RETHINK Conference

RETHINK Conference - September 15-16, 2017

The heart of RETHINK Conference is to provide a space for young adults to ask questions and discover more about what it means to follow Jesus. At this fall conference, we will dialogue together about Jesus and his kingdom, focusing on how to actively engage with issues of justice and mission in our world. This takes place through the transformation of our intellect (Rom. 12:1-2), and by means of deep conversation about the state of our world and the hope that comes from Jesus and his Church.

What are we talking about?

GENDER + SEXUALITY

The Church has failed; we have treated the LGTBQ+ community as the enemy, called them irredeemable, refused to engage in open dialogue, and lacked care. How do we right these wrongs and engage with this very important topic?

FAITH + CULTURE

The Christian community seems to treat 'culture' as the enemy of the Church. Could this really be? Are all cultures identical? If culture is always changing and unique to each part of the world, how can it be an enemy? This calls for a re-examination of culture and our potential influence on the cultures we inhabit.

BIBLE

Two thousand years removed, the question is often asked, "How can people rationally and reasonably trust the Bible?" Is it not a highly uneven and biased record? False? Myth? How are we to think about the Bible in today's post-biblical world?

CHURCH + KINGDOM

If the Church is a body meant for the good of the world, why does it only seem to contribute to the problems of the world? Should we give up on the Church and the Kingdom? Does God care?

JUSTICE

In the age of information, we are surrounded by images and videos of human trafficking, refugee crises, racism, and xenophobia that display a suffering world that lacks justice. In the face of these countless issues, how do we enact justice, love mercy, and walk humbly in our world?

SCIENCE + FAITH

Being a person of faith in the scientific age means that you're irrational, anti-intellectual, and archaic, right? Can people believe in God and hold to scientific laws and theories?
